What Is Integrative-Biological Dentistry?
Biological dentistry is a modern approach that views oral health in the context of the body’s overall health. The goal is to identify and treat the causes of dental diseases rather than merely alleviating the symptoms. Biological dentists use biocompatible materials and techniques that support the body’s natural functions and promote its self-healing abilities.
Biological dentistry is based on a holistic approach that aims to promote the health of the entire body. This means that it focuses not only on the teeth and gums, but also on other areas of the body that can be affected by oral health, such as the immune system, the digestive system, and the respiratory tract.
We offer holistic dental care that connects the body and the mouth. Your health and well-being are our top priority. Our practice places great emphasis on:
- Metal-free ceramic implants and dental restorations
- Biocompatible materials
- Low-toxicity filling materials (https://saremco.ch/)
- Use of blood plasma concentrates (PRF/Platelet-Rich Fibrin membranes)
- Minimally invasive techniques

What is done differently in biological dentistry?
In biological dentistry, great emphasis is placed on using materials that are biocompatible and have no harmful effects on the body. These include materials such as ceramic. Biological dentistry also employs techniques such as ozone therapy and laser treatments to combat bacteria and promote the body’s self-healing abilities.
Among our most common applications of biological dentistry are the removal of amalgam fillings, the treatment of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) problems, the diagnosis and treatment of periodontitis, and dental restoration using ceramic implants. We also emphasize the importance of a healthy diet and lifestyle for oral health and overall physical well-being.
Special Services in Biological Dentistry:
- Ceramic implants: These are metal-free and can be used as an alternative to titanium implants for tooth replacement. The white and highly biocompatible material offers aesthetic advantages and can be used in cases of intolerance to titanium and nickel. Learn more about ceramic implants here.
- Laboratory Analyses: Analyses from the IMD/Berlin laboratory (https://www.imd-berlin.de/spezielle-kompetenzen/zahnmedizin) serve as the basis for developing personalized treatment plans. Specialized analyses bridge the gap between medicine and dental health. Several biologically oriented medical practices in and around Zurich are available to assist you. - Plasma membrane: PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin) membranes are produced by centrifuging the patient’s own blood. These fibrin membranes are rich in growth factors and support healing following dental surgical procedures. They are frequently used as a natural filler material in implant procedures, bone grafts, periodontal treatments, and following tooth extractions to promote tissue regeneration. Thanks to their biocompatible properties, they accelerate the healing process and reduce the risk of complications. (Info Link: Blood Plasma Concentrates)
- Ozone Therapy: Ozone therapy has a wide range of health-promoting applications. In oral surgery, its antibacterial effect facilitates healthy bone healing, particularly after tooth extractions and prior to dental implant procedures.
- Ultrasound Surgery: The use of ultrasound surgery alone leads to significantly fewer complications, faster bone healing, and reduced pain and swelling for patients following surgery.
